iPhone Insurance
You’d be surprised how many people walk around with cracked iPhone screens, with studies suggesting that it could be at least 20% of us! But if you’ve spent over £500 on your shiny new iPhone you want it to continue to look great and function normally throughout its usable life. That’s why you might want to consider getting insurance for your new iPhone.
Repairing a cracked screen can cost over £100 a time, but with an insurance policy the excess could be as low as £50. So if you damage your iPhone more than once a year, insurance could save you a fair bit of cash. When it really comes into its own though is if you are unfortunate enough to lose your iPhone or have it stolen. Without insurance, you’d have to stump up over £500 to replace it yourself. With insurance, you’d just have to pay the £50 excess on top of your annual premium.
What Should I look out for?
Low Excesses – Some insurers have an additional excess charge for iPhones, and some add a number of ‘hidden’ charges that can catch you out. Look out for increased charges for claims in the first 30 days, claims abroad, multiple claims, claims for loss or theft.
Fast repair times – Some insurers, particularly those bundled with bank accounts, can take a long time to repair or replace your iPhone. You’ll probably want claims to be handled within 48 hours for a decent turnaround time. Some insurers also allow you to take your iPhone to an Apple store to be repaired. This ensures that you get a fixed phone quickly and that the repairs use original Apple parts.
Unlimited claims – many insurers impose a limit on the number of claims you can make on your policy. We think that if a policy is priced correctly there shouldn’t be any restrictions on the number of claims that you can make.
Great reviews – the proof is in the pudding with any insurance policy, and so it’s important to look for positive and genuine reviews so that you know the insurer will handle your claim fairly.
Which policy should I get?
There’s a huge range of iPhone insurance policies available in the UK, and you should do your own comparisons in order to find the one that’s most suited to your needs.
We particularly like Tinhat iPhone insurance because it covers all models of iPhone from the iPhone 6s to the iPhone 7, and meets all of the criteria we set out above. With premiums from just £6.49 this seems like a great value option.
